Feedback on Starting and Registering Running Workouts with Apple Watch

As a new Freeletics user, I’ve encountered two issues with how running workouts in my Coach-assigned Training Journey integrate with the Apple Watch, and I’d like to suggest improvements.

  1. Running Workouts Not Registered as Running: When I start a Freeletics running session via the iPhone app and control it on my Apple Watch, it doesn’t appear as a “running” workout in the Apple Watch Workout app. Instead, it’s often logged as “functional strength training” in Apple Health, which prevents accurate tracking of running-specific data like distance and pace. I’d love for Freeletics running sessions to be correctly recognized as “running” in the Apple Watch Workout app while still counting toward my Coach progress.

  2. Inability to Start Runs from Apple Watch: Currently, I must start running sessions from the Freeletics iPhone app, which isn’t always convenient during outdoor runs. Adding the ability to initiate Coach-assigned running sessions directly from the Freeletics Apple Watch app (without needing the iPhone nearby) would make the experience much more seamless for Apple Watch users.

Thank you for considering this feedback. I’m really enjoying Freeletics and hope these changes can enhance the Apple Watch integration for a smoother running experience!
