I don’t really understand how to properly enter my available weights in the app.
Almost all my equipment is adjustable, and I can swap the same plates between kettlebells, dumbbells and a barbell.
Since I can share the plates, I added the weights in each category: adjustable dumbbells, kettlebells, and plates.
But the app seems to make me use the same plates for two different exercises at the same time, which would mean I need to change weights in the middle of a set (or maybe I calculated something wrong).
So I’d like to make sure I’m entering my available weights correctly in the app.
Here’s what I have :
• 2 adjustable kettlebells, 600 g each when empty (I can put 4 plates on each)
• 2 adjustable dumbbells, 800 g each when empty (I can put 4 plates on each side)
• 1 barbell, 0.9 kg when empty (I can put 4 plates on each side)
• 1 plate of 15 kg (36 cm diameter)
• 4 plates of 3.5 kg (23 cm)
• 3 plates of 2 kg (20.5 cm) + 4 plates of 2 kg (18 cm)
• 4 plates of 1.5 kg (16.5 cm)
• 4 plates of 1.25 kg (16 cm)
• 5 plates of 1 kg (16 cm)
I do have adjustable DBs as well. Enter all the weight combinations you have. All of them. It is a bit time. Consuming but you only have to do it once. I have 5, 7.5 10 15 17.5 20 25 27.5 30…..all the way to 90lbs
Thanks for the reply.
Just to make sure I understand correctly:
If I have two 1 kg/lbs plates and two 3 kg/lbs plates, should I list my available weights like this?
1
2 (1+1)
3
4 (1+3)
5 (1+1+3)
6 (3+3)
7 (1+3+3)
…
?
But my plates are used for everything: dumbbells, barbell and kettlebell.
So does that mean I need to select weights that will be used only for dumbbells, for example?
For instance, if I only had one 2 kg / lbs plate, should I calculate all my possible weights as if that plate existed only for dumbbells and pretend it doesn’t exist for the barbell or kettlebell?
Just to make sure the app doesn’t try to use that same 2 kg/lbs plate twice in a workout that mixes dumbbell and kettlebell exercises.
So like heboma suggested, I would set up the equipments with the exact weight you have. Including the empty weigt. So I would tell FL I have several kettlebells starting with 0.6kg, 1.6 kg etc… Same for dumbbell (use the new adjustable dumbbell, not the regular old one!!), start with 0.8, 1.8 etc…When I did this, I was actually so lazy I asked ChatGPT to calculate all combinations and just put them in one time.
For you now it’s a little special that you share the weights between the equipment, I don’t think there is an option out of the box. But there is the “shared space” feature (don’t know the exact English name). This is a general option for the training space and it will reduce the weight changes within one interval and should help you to avoid having to swap the plates within one interval from one equipment to another.
I personally had a similar challenge and have another "trick” that might be interesting for you. I actually configured my home several times and just called it “home 1” where I did like described aboved and put everything in exactly. And my “home 2” I just clicked “I have everything” (and I just use the weight closest to the weigth given), or you might choose the “shared space” option only there. This way I can check the standard trianing plan and if I don’t like it or in your case e.g. you would need to swap weights you can easily check out how the training looks with different setting. And coveniently move back
So my tricks might only work with the Ultimate Strength Journey, if you’re not on this journey currently it might be worth checking it out.
