Apple Watch app is extremely important to me - could be quite limited and not well-supported - just need something to help me not have to reference, pick up, and click on my phone constantly while I’m trying to work out.

What do you use now that has Apple Watch?

Come on, it is time to implement this now. It was understandable in the past not to have smartwatch apps since there were a lot of different OS. Now there is a consolidation in the market with Wear OS (Android) and WatchOS (Apple).

I want to use Freeletics for my runs but there is not app on my smartwatch (and the running is not developed enough) so I have to use Strava to get something decent. This is another subscription there, for something that could be integrated with Freeletics. Take that market and money.

Since I have a smartwatch I would also like to be able to just switch to the next exercise with the watch (and go back in case I make a false click) and have the workouts complete my daily ring of activity. I don’t need much more than that.

So running + next exercise switch.

I’m looking for a collaboration between Garmin and Freeletics. While the Apple Watch is great for notifications, Apple Pay, messages, etc., when it comes to sports, performance, and health tracking, Garmin is truly exceptional. I’m highly impressed by Garmin’s features and won’t be turning back to the Apple Watch.

…I’ve been an Apple fanboy for 15 years.

So please, do it with Garmin.

In the mean time, as we wait for the Apple Watch support, let’s explore some Freeletics alternatives together. (I’m happy to return to Freeletics when I can use my Apple Watch Ultra 2 again)

Currently I’m having an eye on Athlagon.com. What I like is their community focus and the way how they listen to their communities for new features. They also have an Apple first approach that allows to run their app even on a Mac laptop. they allegedly have many tests to self-assess your current strengths and weaknesses and custom-build the training plan (similar to Freeletics but much more advanced)

Another option is the Fitbod app. What I like very much is the option to define different locations which the various training tools at hand. (For example, if I train outdoors, I don’t bring all my dumbbells, whereas in my home gym I have a Black Roll that I don’t have in the hotel gym when traveling, etc… Freeletics does not allow to create such different environments and one needs to manually select and deselect all the training tools every time when the training environment changes)

What are you exploring while waiting for the Freeletics Apple Watch support?
