This is a very interesting thread because now we are talking about several interesting topics, and everyone has different perspectives.
Choosing gender of the person in the videos. I think only emailofsharp requested this, at least on this thread. By the way, it would be really great if you could share why you would like to have that. I checked the thread but didn’t find the reasons mentioned (other than that you believe that this is basic functionality).
Videos to show people of different age and fitness level. Looks like this is something personal - important to some users for motivation (e.g. LStelie), while some others don’t mind. I can see how this could be good, but I still believe that at the same time the execution in the videos should be as perfect as possible, because the purpose of the videos is for users to learn the movements.
Current videos sometimes don’t show perfect execution. Totally agree, and I’ll add one more example - jumping jacks. The team should try to do their best and not show mistakes in execution, but it is probably unavoidable to have some imperfections and variations. If someone wants to dig deeply and perfect small details or advanced exercises, it is fair that they read advanced articles and watch long detailed videos on youtube (I support this approach, but most people do not need/want to do this). On the other hand, the videos in this app are enough to learn and follow an exercise in 99% of the cases.
Sofia, this is basic functionality - period. No other reason as far as you should be concerned.
For example, training videos by Technogym, provide that option and that makes it way more adaptive to the user, which should be the ultimate goal of this app.
Hey everyone, please let’s focus on the constructive criticism and feedback culture we want to establish in this forum - @Sofia, thanks for summarizing the discussion and for the feedback on our Coaches. @emailofsharp, we would like to understand what physical features of the Coach would make them more adaptive and inclusive (other than choosing between male and female). Could you specify a little?
Okay, it is surprising that I have to explain it but a male athlete would prefer to be trained by another male athlete.
One of the main reasons is the physic specificity of each gender which dictates comparability in this context.
Also, you want to look up to your coach and be like them - and a male athlete wouldn’t would to be like a female athlete and vs versa.
Additionally (but not lastly ofcourse) we are only human and we have instincts - I hope I don’t have to explain this one.
