I would love to see an option in Coach settings that allows users to choose how many days per week they want to train, without having to specify fixed training days.
Due to my flexible work schedule, I don’t always train on the same days of the week, whether at the gym or at home. Sometimes I miss a scheduled workout, while on other days I have time and motivation to train even though Coach has scheduled a rest day.
Currently, if I want to work out on a rest day, I have to go into Coach settings and change my training days to get a workout for that day. This feels unnecessarily restrictive and requires extra steps.
Instead, it would be great to simply set a weekly training frequency (e.g. 3 or 4 days per week) and let Coach adapt to my availability, allowing me to start a workout whenever I have time, while still respecting the recommended recovery periods and overall training plan.
I believe this would make Freeletics much more flexible and convenient for people with irregular schedules, while maintaining the benefits of a structured training plan.
This has been my method of a “flexible training plan” for at least a year now, maybe even two. I’d love to define an amount of workouts for a week instead of which exact days too, like you suggested.
What would be lost is the reminder notification on the day of your training, because Freeletics doesn’t know when you want to train.
In fact, you can just go to a scheduled day and start the session - it will be moved to actual day after starting. No need to reschedule the full week.
So in case of three training days a week, just schedule three random days a week (like Monday to Wednesday):
if you do a rest day on scheduled day, it will be delayed to day after.
If you want to train on a non scheduled day, just start the next session, it will be rescheduled to actual day.
Keep in mind and don’t be confused: if you already complete all your coach sessions earlier than scheduled (e.g. last training day on Thursday, but scheduled Friday), you get your perfect week badge - but also a scheduled session on scheduled day which will be delayed until end of week. You can ignore this or throw in an additional coach session if you want. Your perfect week badge “just” count if you fulfilled the amount of planned sessions - not if you really do them on scheduled days.
It’s not what happens to me right now. I have session programs from Monday to Friday, but if one day I don’t train the app doesn’t offer me to train Saturday or Sunday, Saturday and Sunday are still days of rest
You’re right, when it’s a day off I can click on Adapt my session, and choose a strength session. I understand that when I complete the number of training days set, the perfect week will be fulfilled, even if I have not done them in the two that I played, right?
My yesterdays scheduled coach day (for testing purposes, I didn’t do) now appears on today’s plan - without setting Friday as a coach session day. For me, that still works.
Thanks @melaLetics for already helping out here! Just to add some perspective on the benefits of Coach using a calendar instead of the number of training days: knowing which days you train, and whether they’re back to back, lets the Coach plan things like a body-part split for strength workouts and avoid overtraining. It’s one of the core parts of how the workouts are designed. As @melaLetics suggested, feel free to swap days whenever you need to.
@melaLetics something that just occurred to me that isn’t be possible when not moving the workout days, is that you won’t be able to substitute the planned workout with a mobility or recovery session.
That’s a good point, because among the options to adapt the session of the day is to choose between different approaches of strength or running but not of mobility. It would be good if we could also select a mobility session
