Hello,
I recently switched to Garmin watch and would like to know if there is any way to sync / download freeletics app on Garmin watch. Currently, it’s difficult to manage app on phone while exercising.
Hey there
This is a topic that comes up regularly
Unfortunately expanding integration of the Training app to 3rd party trackers and smart watches just isn’t something that we can make a priority at the moment so please don’t expect something like this in the near future. We do discuss this subject very often though so please do not think we do not consider it all.
Just wanna say that this is still a need - even in the year after the first posting
I’m a Garmin user as well, can you clarify what is your expectation what the Freeletics in combination with Garmin should do?
My two cents: ability to advance a workout and see current exercise or time remaining. Ultimately the goal would be to start a workout on my phone and progress to it’s finish without having to touch my phone in the middle of it.
It’s baffling how a topic brought up as frequently as this triggers the answer: “Don’t expect anything in this area anytime soon.”
Baffling and deeply disappointing.
Hey Thorben,
I’m also an avid Garmin user and use my watch for all kinds of activities. I haven’t, however, ever seen a possibility to control a phone app through the watch. Biking or hiking apps for example, provide a track or route to be uploaded to and used on the watch. The result then is uploaded to Garmin connect and then pushed to Apple Health, Komoot …
Do you have an example Garmin app that does what you’re asking? As an example so to say…
How do you propose such an app? Does the app tell me which exercise is next? Do I need my reading glasses for this? Or does the app only provide a NEXT button and I need to check my phone for what’s next? Do I get the exercise video on the app? Can I change weights?
How do we do all that on watches without touch screen? Or with touch disabled?
Don’t get me wrong, a cool Freeletics app on my Garmin would be awesome! I only seem to fail to imagine something really useful… maybe Garmins and their API are not yet ready for this kind of app?
Curious

Some watches do have the possibility to lead through workouts and show an excercise. You don’t have to read, it shows an animated figure (my Fenix 6s Pro can do it), at least for the excercises/workouts provided by Garmin. You can download the workout onto your watch and don’t need your phone.
I have used this for a training with a different app by setting up a training in Garmin (including the exact time for breaks) and started Garmin watch and the phone app at the same time. This of course only is possible with workouts that are fixed and not variable, and makes only sense if the app proceeds alone and you don’t have to swipe on the phone. And it’s time-consuming to set up.
There are different ways of integration.
a) freeletics get sensor data either via garmin connect or with an app
b) freeletics integrates google healthconnect (google fit is not working anymore)
c) freeletics training sessions can be imported / synced to garmin app
Goal should be to have the body stats (HR, Duration, etc etc …) from each workout without touching the phone for each round/workout/set etc
But i would also be happy if i could
- add weight, or
- change repetion or
- select additional workout/trainings
- change elements
for an onoing session
I found another app that had a great Garmin integration. AI based like Freeletics too. The app would essentially get a live feed from the watch and the app would adapt each workout depending on the sleep of the person and other activities. Freeletics could use the same format for Smartwatch intergations.
Examples:
- I slept poorly, the app/AI recognises it via the live data feed → FL Coach gives me an easier session.
- I did a 15Km hike yesterday, tracked with my Garmin → FL Coach doesn’t assign me a heavy leg day session
- I accumulated too much strain, my Garmin knows I need to recover → Coach only assigns me a light run or an active recovery/foam rolling session.
Using the actual data from the watch to enhance the Coach, that would be great.
Hi Tom,
What is the Name of the App you mentioned?
Thanks
Hi @D_freeletics , it’s called the Relentless Trainer on the app store:
Relentless Method - Adaptable fitness for everyone
I really wished Freeletics had the same functionalities!
That. Was. VERY. Interesting
Hi @jmsandelg , are you talking about the Relentless Trainer?
In my opinion, that’s what Freeletics should be! a great AI Coach that actually adapt to you based on data and how you feel prior to a training session. The Freeletics UX/UI is so much better that they could be the best in the world with such integration.
Yep, I was freaking out about that app (Relentless), but also the incredibly wide possibilities of taking the FL AI trainer, and add up all the information of training, food eaten through FL Nutrition, daily activity though a smartwatch (including sleeping time), body composition and evolution (weight, BMI, hydration level…) through a smartscale.
Obviously that´s the future of training apps, but some of them are already capable of doing more and more, beware FL, they could overtake you…
Currently considerating swipping to Relentless, if FL continues ignoring subscriber´s suggestions.
Hi @jmsandelg 100% agreed, it is quite impressive what they’re able to achieve!
I just can’t believe tha Freeletics is unable to connect to a Garmin watch. I mean come on, that should be an absokute priority.
I love freeletics for many things. But I am disappointed with the speed of new updates. I didn’t see many improvements over the past year and none that were of any use.
I will check out relentless.
@demianrosenthal Agreed! Yeah it seems that we got a lot of unnecessary updates instead of focusing on the pure training experience, with integrations that would change the AI thinking for the day, more exercises, more Gods, more journeys, mixing journeys, etc…
For a fitness app not to have integration for fitness trackers/smart watches in this day and age is a bit disappointing.
If this was a new app fair enough, but to be around for such a long time and not have these features…
Not to take away all implementations they created in that time, good job but can do even better.
It would be awesome to use the lap button for the next exercise, SmartPhone touch screens and sweat are no good combination
