Incorrect distance tracking for "Free outdoor Cycle"

Hello,

I’am using the Cardio option “Free outdoor cycle” very frequently (Monday to Friday) to track my commute to work. This is about a 40 min cycle for around 12.3 KM.

I parallel also track via my Samsung smart watch and import that data into the Freeletics app. Forseveral month now the tracking in Freeletics is always off. While the distance is around the 12km Freeletics at times tracks 16km, 18km or even 19km while my tracking via my Smart watch alwasy is around the 12km.

I did unistall and reinstall the app without any changes to that and waited some time to see if it fixes itself. Anytime I start tracking Freeletics just seems to be faster then myself. Partially going from 1km to 2km to 3km within only a few minutes.

Iam using a Samsung Galaxy A54 5G with Android version 16 with the Freelectis version 26.25.0.

My language is set to english and Iam based in Dublin Ireland.

I added a screenshot I took to show the difference between Freeletics and the imported tracking from my Smarwatch. On teh right is Freeletics tracking and on the left the same trip from my smartwatch.

Any advice would be great as all troubleshooting steps I could find online I tried without success.

Hi @freibottchristopher Do you have your phone in battery saving mode? This was a common cause of inaccurate GPS tracking back in old days.

Hey melaLetics,

This tip seems to work. Thank you so much.

Seems like this issue from “the old days” still is an issue now. I tried it on mz waz home yesterday and my way into office today and it seems to be accurate again.

Let’s hope this issue does get fixed eventually.

It’s an android issue, not a Freeletics one. I wasn’t sure if this had been fixed by Google in the meanwhile. But if it has worked a couple of weeks ago without disable battery saving mode, I guess there’s an issue in newest android build from May.
