Best exercises for extremely limited space

Hi there,

inspired by a post on the forum a while ago on staying active during flights, I’m wondering what the community thinks are good exercises for extremely limited space. To give you an example, I have to be travel quite a bit, so I’m looking for exercises rust can be done on the train (e.g. in a compartment or on the toilet if you like - very limited space). A plank is already quite big, while I do this in three officer in between, I find it awkward to plank on a train unless I’m completely alone.

My current takes are: wall sit, calf raises, quad stretch, lat stretch, standing side stretch, shoulder and triceps stretches, and deep squat hold. These are mostly stretches and surely better than nothing. However, I am wondering whether there are other exercises to keep active on travels. What are your thoughts?

Best wishes,

Uwe

This might sound crazy but on relatively longer intercity trains I usually try and spend as much time just walking from one end to other  I think I nearly reached 10k steps on one journey travelling from the bottom of Germany to the top

I often have issues travelling a long time (due to restless legs syndrome). I would never call it training but I do Squats and Lunge Walk along the aisle (I travel first class in trains and take business flights - but, to be honest, I do not fly very often) to avoid the pain in my legs.

You weren’t on a train to Munich this morning doing some of these exercises by any chance were you?

Someone was at the front of quite a crowded train I was on and did a really decent leg workout with wall sits, calf raises, squat holds and wall squats. Found it a nice way to spend some commuting time and also make the most of not getting a seat!
