Does Freeletics need a dedicated posture and upper-back recovery session?

Hi everyone,

I’ve been training with Freeletics consistently for quite some time and I’m very happy with the overall experience. The workouts, coaching and recovery features have helped me improve my fitness significantly.

However, I’ve noticed something that might affect quite a few users, especially those of us who spend many hours sitting at a desk or working in front of screens.

Despite regular training, I still experience neck and shoulder tightness from time to time. This made me wonder whether some of these issues are related less to fitness itself and more to common posture-related patterns such as rounded shoulders, reduced thoracic spine mobility and a tendency towards a rounded upper back.

The current Mobility and Recovery sessions do a great job for general movement, flexibility and recovery. What I feel might be missing is a more targeted focus on:

  • Thoracic spine extension
  • Chest opening
  • Shoulder mobility
  • Upper-back activation
  • Posture-related recovery for desk workers

Recently, I experimented with a few exercises commonly used in yoga and posture-focused mobility routines, including:

  • Tiger Pose
  • Bow Pose
  • Reverse Tabletop
  • Sphinx Pose
  • Chest-opening lunge variations

What stood out to me is that these movements combine chest opening, thoracic extension and upper-back activation in a way that feels somewhat different from most general recovery sessions.

I’m not suggesting that Freeletics should simply add these exact exercises. Rather, they illustrate the type of movement patterns that could potentially be included in a posture-focused recovery routine.

This made me wonder whether a dedicated recovery module such as:

Upper Back & Posture Reset

or

Desk Worker Recovery

could provide value for many users.

The goal would not be to replace existing Mobility or Recovery sessions, but to offer an optional routine specifically aimed at counteracting the effects of prolonged sitting and screen time.

I’m curious to hear from the community:

  • Do you experience neck or shoulder tightness despite training regularly?
  • Have you found the existing Recovery sessions sufficient for posture-related issues?
  • Would you be interested in a dedicated session focused on upper-back mobility, chest opening and posture support?

I’d love to hear your experiences and thoughts.
