New Feature: Spaces – Train Anywhere, Smarter 💪

Hey Athletes :waving_hand:

We’re in the process of rolling out over the next week a brand new feature called Spaces, that makes it easier than ever to stay consistent—whether you’re at home :house:, in a park :deciduous_tree:, or on the go :airplane:.

:brain: What is Spaces?

Spaces will allow you to set up different workout locations, each with its own equipment and training restrictions such as “Train quietly” or “Limited space”. The Coach uses this info to adapt that session automatically based on the Space you choose.

:gear: How it works:

  • Go to Coach tab → Coach Settings → Equipment and spaces
  • Create and name your training Spaces :man_lifting_weights::woman_in_lotus_position::man_running:
  • Select available equipment & training preferences
  • Set one Space as your Main (you can change this at anytime)
  • Use Adapt Session to switch Spaces on the fly :rocket:

:warning: A couple of very important FYIs

  • Your current Training Journey still determines which equipment can be included in your regular sessions :clipboard:
  • Some journeys (like Dumbbell Gain and Kettlebell Fundamentals for example) require specific equipment and limit flexibility
  • Spaces will really work best with Ultimate Strength, if you’re looking to build muscle with different equipment you can switch to this Training Journey now.

I noticed this new feature the other day and added four different spaces. Looks great!
I will most likely use it frequently during the summer, being on different places.

THANK YOU! I couldn’t have thought of something better and smarter than this feature if I put my entire brain to work on it! When will this become live - I’m going to be doing a bit of travelling during July/Aug and this could be super handy!

This is a great idea!

One parameter that would be helpful for us is to have the app know when we are in a space with limited ceiling height (i.e. our basement). The exercises need to be adapted to accommodate this (i.e. no jumping, jumping jacks, standing overhead lifts, etc). The ‘limited space’ qualifier doesn’t seem to consider limited vertical space.

Hi Ben,

Whilst I feel this this is an interesting idea, could it be extended out so that if you’re visiting a gym, you could tell the coach and it would search for a gym space that tells it what is available at the gym? If there isn’t a space for that gym, then you could create it and post it to the app so that the community could benefit from that knowledge.

Also, I think what we need is a way to have a resistance and a cardio training program, where you can say which days you’ll be doing resistance workouts and which you’ll be doing cardio on. It’s crazy that you have an automated system for one aspect of it, but it completely overlooks the original purpose of this app. Cardio seems to have been shoved to the back of the app in a dark dingy corner, which is not great I’d say.

Hi @charlie, I like you r idea of being able to share gym location with equipments embedded, but not sure if it would add a lot of value as not everyone would like to use all the equipments available. For example, I specifically don’t enable some equipments because I don’t want to use them at my gym, or if I’m working out outside at the park, I bring my own bands, dbs and jump rope, so it wouldn’t really be sharable in that sense.
Maybe just a exceptions though! :slight_smile:

On your second point, in the new journey Ultimate Strength, you can choose to turn any days into a Run or a God, adding a lot of cardio if you wish to! :clapclapstatic:

Doesnt work cant update the equipment, it doesnt save

Ive tried ultimate strength, my issue with it is using multiple sets of weights during one workout. Eg 3 sets of dumbells for 15 mins. For consideration of others in the gym i woukd prefer to stick with one set at a time. Also would like to be able to change out individual exercises to a similar muscle group. Great app sticking with dumbell strength program for now. Cheers

Can you share a bit more detail as to what you’re doing and the result? What doesn’t work exactly? If you can take a screen recording that would be exceptionally helpful.

The new spaces function is not saving the equipment that is included. I have tested it several times here. I clicked save and no changes happen to the equipment. Anyway, in short, the save button is not saving the list of equipment in the location.
