New Ultimate Strength update: Mobility Days

Hey Athletes :waving_hand:,

We’ve got another update coming your way – Mobility Days are now part of the Ultimate Strength Training Journey!

So, what’s new? Your Coach automatically includes optional recovery and mobility sessions on your rest days. No more guesswork or, even worse, skipping recovery altogether – it’s all planned out for you with your daily Coach session.

The Mobility days are divided into two types of sessions:

  • Recovery sessions: expect recovery sessions the day after a Coach-assigned workout, targeting the muscle groups you trained the day before.
  • Mobility sessions: get mobility sessions on your additional rest days to improve flexibility and your overall health and wellbeing.

:gear:Do I need equipment for Mobility Days?

Equipment like foam rollers, poles, walls, sticks, towels, or cords can be included in these sessions, but it’s not required. You can also complete the sessions with just your body weight.

:gear:Can I adapt or change my session?

Yes, you can adjust your recovery or mobility session to what you need in that moment. Simply tap “Adapt session” on your Coach-assigned session and select any changes you need.

Here are some ways you can currently adapt your Mobility Days:

  • I don’t have equipment
  • I want to change my session focus
  • I want to train somewhere else
  • I want to adjust my workout time

:gear:Do these count toward my streak?

Yes! Completing these sessions will count toward your daily streak. However, the mobility and recovery sessions won’t count toward your Perfect Week. The Perfect Week is specific to your Coach workouts.

Update to the latest version and give Mobility Days a try!

Not seeing Mobility Days on your rest days?

First, make sure you’re currently in the Ultimate Strength Training Journey. If they still don’t appear, try changing something in your Coach settings (anything like days, equipment, etc) to trigger the update.

As always, please share your feedback here so we can continue to improve the Coach experience.

Excellent news! I’ve been trying Pliability aswell as skill ioga but running outside the Freeletics ecosystem is not the same.

That’s an excellent feature, when can we see it in the other journeys?

Haven’t tried it yet but damn that’s so cool!

Thanks at everyone! Ultimate strength is really becoming the only and ultimate journey!

Just done my first one! Really cool feature!

This is fantastic. Thank you. The recovery day structure is a great fit for me!!

Hi Nick,

I have been following FL since 2015 and could say that I was happy with it. But nowadays I encountered some issues about my training journeys. I am following Ultimate Strength Journey at the moment.

First of all my DAS point doesn’t go anywhere even though I execute some of the exercises (I do 60 climbers in warm up and DAS doesn’t see this). Besides the coach doesn’t plan any of the exercises to calculate my DAS, so it stays very low.

The other one is the repetition numbers. I am sick and tired of doing same exercises 34 reps 5 sets with 2,5 kgs dumbbells. I am sick and tired of any exercises that goes above 15 reps. Again, even though I say they are easy the coach doesn’t take my feedback into consideration. When I say easy or too easy coach increases my reps not my lifts. And I am sick and tired of same exercises for weeks, they are the same with dumbbells journey and I am really frustrated with ultimate strength training. I think my training and improvement clogged by something. I want to continue to use this app but if it goes like this I will leave eventually.
Thanks.

Hey @nickfreer, the update is great! Much needed for the app!

It looks like the mobility days are impacting the next coach session though. The next session is regenerated as if the mobility was an actual workout. Could it be a bug?

Is there a way to generate these mobility session ourselves to do a daily one on top of the coach’s workout?

Cheers

Tom

Tom is right. My lower body mobility today affected tomorrow’s strength workout and changed it from full body to upper body. This is weird because if anything, the mobility made me feel less stiff and more ready for a full body day. I’m going to manually change tomorrow’s workout back to full body, but it still feels like an unnecessary thing.
