Is it possible to have some insights on how the algorhytm work for selecting equipment?
I recently restarted Ultimate Strength and added weighted vest.
Now the coach makes me use the weighted vest A LOT, which I dont necessarily dislike, but I noticed that somedays I dont feel like carrying my vest downstairs as maybe I have heavy squats so I’m already bringing knee sleeves, squat shoes, belt. When I exclude the vest from the options then I dont get barbell squat anymore, but dumbell squats instead. This is happening with bench press too.
Not sure why it’s happening, but seems like a bug? If I remove the weighted vest from the equipment, I want to keep the barbell main lift and have some dumbells or kettlebells stuff instead of vest exercises. Not removing barbell work from the main lift without a reason

Also… since I restarted I’m getting s shitload of lunges. Like every single session I’m doing hundreds of weighted or unweighted lunges. Why is this happening?
Hi Mattia, what you’re describing sounds like a real bug or a totally illogical mechanic to me. In my opinion, the heavy lifts of the day should remain unchanged if the barbell is kept in the equipment. I haven’t run into this issue because I ditched dumbbells a while ago; without them, and using just the barbell and a weighted vest, the program has improved infinitely.
Those minor isolation moves like single-leg hip raises are gone, and now it suggests a program made up entirely of compound lifts and weighted exercises. Regarding lunges, it’s true they show up very often—even in the split lunge version—but overall, I really like the leg sessions because they always include squats, unilateral work, and hip hinge movements. The vest has given the leg days a great boost with plenty of explosive exercises, and I don’t feel like the amount of lunges is overkill, even if they are frequent.
