Hi, Iāve picked up freeletics again after 4 years of not training. I remember it being really good but now Iām not sure! I want to start running again, but even when I say Iām a complete beginner with zero fitness, the app wants me to start running 1k. This is very demotivating as Iām just not able to do this. What am I missing? Btw, this is AFTER adapting the workout to āway easierā. Thanks, Anja
Hey Anja,
just keep going. Eventually the coach will adapt and/or youāll just be able to see how fast you are able to run 1k. And even if it takes you an hour. Youāll see that you can
Hi, I noticed as well that for beginners, the Coach suggests way too hard journeys. I donāt remember if it asks for fitness level when one buys the complete app - I think it does. And it suggested anyway - and still does, even after 2 Start S. & 1 Fit For Life - the Weights Free Gain (M) / Natural Tone (F) journey
Hey Anja
Itās worth just asking yourself are you on the correct Journey i.e. do you want your training to be focused around running. If so, then like Anna suggested, keep going and you will find that you can do that distance, even if it takes some time and you find yourself walking during periods.
You will see such an improvement after a few weeks if you stay consistent that before you know it, youāll be running this distance no problem.
Having said that, if you havenāt trained at all for a few years, it might be worth considering starting off with a Journey like Start Smart, or even Fit for Life (with runs enabled if you want the odd run assigned).
Hello, Yes, Iād like to run. Iāve started running with the freeletics app before and it was a great experience. It was the separate running app though and Iāve got the impression the app now just doesnāt seem to be very good. Many people start running from nothing using running apps, itās definitely not because Iām on the wrong journey, itās because the journey is not adapted to beginners! Asking someone to start with 1k is an injury or heart attack waiting to happen! The nice things about following a program is that it builds gradually. Iāve had this experience with freeletics before so itās frustrating that Iāve paid for something that just doesnāt deliver and makes me feel demotivated.
Ok, so thatās absolutely doable if you want to do this Training Journey.
I think itās then helpful to make clear that the Coach doesnāt necessarily want you to ārunā all the assigned distance.
It may well be that you have to walk some of it. What Pace is the Coach asking you to do this run at? For example, at a comfortable pace you should be able to hold a conversation easily without needing to take a breath-this may mean at times slowing the pace of the ārunā down to a walking pace.
