Freeletics' recommended dumbbell weight

Hey, I’m planning to add a set of dumbbells to my Freeletics training. According to this article, as a male and a beginner, I should start with dumbbells that are 7-12kg.

I just wanted to make sure, since the article doesn’t really specify, this is the weight for each individual dumbbell – so if I start at 10kg, the total weight for a pair is 20kg. Is that right?

I’m going to push this up because I’m wondering the same thing. I want to try out the dumbbell journey but I’m unsure about the weights to get. So are these weight recommendations per side or in total?

I believe for dumbbells the specified weights are for each.
So for male beginner weight would range between 7 to 12 kg each dumbbell.

In my case I have set of adjustable dumbbells ranging from 2.5 to 12 kg each

And this is perfect for me as there are some exercises for which 7kg would be too much so it’s good to have as much options as possible.

thanks for the feedback! how long have you been training with them then? and is the upper part of the spectrum enough for you?

Almost at the end of the first dumbbell journey. I feel like upper/lower split is quite good. Volume and intensity is just right. I almost always get some soreness just enough to recover from it in 2, 3 days max.

Feedback also works well in my case. If I submit feedback that I could do another 3-5 reps I would see a small increase in either reps or weight in the following weeks.

Only thing I would like is to have more structure in terms of muscles being worked.
For example one day I would get workouts that target chest and triceps, next training would usually follow with legs and then for some reason it repeats chest and triceps again instead of focusing on other muscles.

And how many days per week are you doing? Just asking bc of your good split.

4 days a week most of the time. Trying my best not to go below that.
And almost never above it. Kind of a sweet spot for me
