Hi, I’ve been doing the Run&Burn Journey since Tuesday and I’m having the following problem:
On Tuesday, it started with a technique session, 1.5 km. Since that was too little for me, I set the difficulty to Very Hard and then ran 2.5 km. That went smoothly with a pace of 5:42.
On Wednesday, I had an interval session, which I honestly rated as “Too easy.”
Today, there was another 1.5 km technique run. For Sunday, it was supposed to increase to 2 km.
After running the way-too-short 1.5 km again today and marking it as “Too easy,” the coach has now reduced Sunday’s training back to 1.5 km.
And now (finally) I feel seriously messed with.
Is that how it’s supposed to work? Surely not seriously. In the previous Journey, ExCal, I was easily running 6 km intervals.
I did see your Reddit post yesterday and was going to respond, I’ll give an explanation here
There’s a couple of things to consider
This Training Journey (I’ll just use TJ from now on) isn’t one in which you should expect longer distance runs. The longest run you can expect to be assigned on this Training Journey is I think 7-8km, and that comes right at the peak of the Journey dependant on feedback.
The Running TJs are quite cyclical in nature, so at the beginning of one, the assigned load is very much reduced from what your maximum is. The absolutely atrocious picture I’ve drawn below is a crude representation of this.
The initial assignment of the runs is impacted by the answers you give in the assessment before starting this TJ. If, for example, you say the most you’ve ever run is 6km in the last 2 years, then the Coach is not going to start you off at this-It’s going to start you at maybe 1/4 of that distance, and then over the course of your TJ, you’ll follow the progression outlined above.
This is just an explanation of the behaviour I am not saying that it is perfect and couldn’t be improved.
