Why is coach giving me a 10kg hammer curl exercise when I've specified I only have a single 10kg dumbbell? Unless it means 2 x 5kg?

That’s what it looks like for me. I have a pair of dumbbells. So I’d expect it wants you to switch the dumbbell and do it one side after the other.

so you think its by design? If so do I use 5kg on each side or 10kg?

Hammer curls weight is the total weight of both dumbells. That means you should use 2 dumbells of 5 kg each one.

well do you have a pair of 5 kg dumbells? or just the 10 kg?
I’m confused because it tells me tells me to use 2x 4.5 kg instead of 9 kg of dumbells..
For barbell it makes sense but not really for dumbells imo

Yes I have.

Yeah I don’t know. Usually it means that the weight is total. But for me it still doesn’t make sense why the coach told me to use a pair of dumbbells and you only the total weight.

Thanks but how come @gameonplayer 's coach is showing 2x4.5kg?

@Ben sorry for causing confusing but that’s not really clear for me. What’s he supposed to do?

Hey @david4 :waving_hand:

Let me clear this up :+1: @gameonplayer was correct here :backhand_index_pointing_down:

So originally, the Coach was assigning you this exercise to do with a 10kg dumbbell (I’ll use DB from this point on).

Having a single weight of any DB shouldn’t prevent you from doing any exercise that would normally require 2, in this case hammer curls. The expectation here is that you would do half the assigned reps on one side, half on the other. If you would have had 2 of these weights available you would have been assigned 2 x 10 kg. DBs can be expensive-we don’t want you to miss out on certain exercises just because you don’t have 2 of each weight.

Hope that’s clear :+1: Thanks @gameonplayer for picking this up :folded_hands:

Hi Ben,

Just so it’s explicitly clear. When coach gives me 8 x Hammer Curls of 10kg, I should do 4 curls of 10kg on my left then 4 curls of 10kg on my right?
