Barbell Journey feedback

Hi Guys! It’s the first time I am doing the barbell journey and I wanted to give a bit of feedback. I feel the coach is a bit too demanding in the sense that on the leg day, I am asked to do 4x10x back squats with a heavy weight and then immediately after I have 3x10x Sumo deadlifts with a heavy weight again. Isn’t this overworking my lower back and leg joints and predisposing me to injury? I was used to mix Heavy back squats with lighter weight of deadlifts and vice-versa, but never doing both heavy in a row, on the same day. I reduced manually the weight of the deadlifts in this case, but I don’t know if this is going to mess up the coach’s calculations. Let me know your thoughts. Cheers.

Hi, I’ve done the barbell journey several times and I’ve found a better programming in the lifts when doing three days a week instead of four or five. It Is usually three full body workouts like so:

Monday:

  • Back Squats
  • Bench presses or Overhead military press
  • Pull ups or barbell rows

Wednesday:

  • Bench presses
  • Barbell Lunges
  • Pull ups or Barbell rows

Fridays:

  • Deadlifts
  • Front Squats
  • Overhead military press or Bench press
